I’m about 7 years behind the mainstream, but I finally switched over from brick and mortar, pencil and spiral binder calendaring to my phone. This is what people must have felt like when first using medicine. Obviously there is some type of scientific properties involved, but mostly it feels like magic and incantations and a tiny hint of pixie dust. From the phone to the cloud to the computer. Magic. Unfortunately this works so well that there is no putting the calendar out of sight and out of mind. We have a dot on every day in October. Staring at me. Making menacing faces at me. Signifying that something is planned. Daring me to either give it the bird or schedule in unscheduled time. Coaching me to breathe instead of break the screen in panic.
Big moments are needed. They are the giant memory stones to be placed in the Ebenezers of our life. But it is the in-betweens that are my favorite. That little flash of brilliance in an otherwise typical day. Although my last post was the big events, here are some of my favorite pictures to honor the in-betweens.
The in-betweens. They are what make up most of life. I am so grateful to live in an age of camera phones and digital cameras that do the hard work. Without them, how did people ever remember their in-betweens?
We still have a few of those little dots on the iphone calendar today. All those different dots keying out all the people and things left in our day that attempt to steal my gratitude and hold my sanity ransome. So I’m keeping my eyes open for the in-betweens that stack themselves into a life well lived.
